- Roads, traffic and ferries
Roads are narrower than you are perhaps used to so allow more time for driving. Cyclists and motorists share the road, please respect all road users, check your speed and drive with care.
The ferries have some rules:
- Follow the rules and directions of both crew and traffic signals
- Don’t leave your car before departure
- Lock the parking brake, turn off the headlights and stop the engine.
- Park as close to the car in front as possible so that as many cars as possible can be loaded onto the ferry.
- Make sure that the vehicle is able to exit, at least from one side.

- Take care of your rubbish
Make sure your rubbish does not end up in the water or nature. The most common litter on Finnish beaches is plastic and cigarette buts which both break-down to microplastic and end-up in watercourses. It is easy to recycle your waste at sea. At KAT Sälle stations you can recycle glass, metal, and paper. Plastic and compost recycling is increasingly found.
- Charging points for electric and hybrid cars
